Our work Alterations
Vintage leather jacket: zip replaced
A tired front zip on a leather jacket is a common repair. We match the metal, restitch the tape and leave the leather as it is.
Leather jackets fail at the zip long before the hide does. A broken slider or separated teeth usually means a full zip replacement — not a cheap coil zip, but a metal zip that matches the original weight and colour.
This black leather jacket had a new front zip fitted in the shop. Ribbed collar, waist and cuffs were left as they are. The leather is vintage, so we stitch the new tape in without stretching or marking the panels.
We replace zips on jackets, coats, trousers and dresses. Bring the garment to 165 Manor Road, Chigwell — no appointment needed, free parking on site. We see regular work from Loughton, Buckhurst Hill and Woodford.
